Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), nurse and Lance
Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture moving. She is English--,
Welsh-, Irishand Scottish. Rachel started acting as an adult. At the age of 13,
she was participating in Shakespearean productions at a summer theater camp.
Following graduation, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in
Theater. After appearing in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) in which
she was a lead in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama which follows the
struggles and triumphs of the Shakespearean theatre group. In 2003, she
received the Gemini award. Her performance as Regina George, in Mean Girls
(2004) instantly made her a star on Hollywood's most sought-after young actors.
After that she co-starred with Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of
Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a hugely
successful film at the box-office and became the most watched romantic drama
for the young crowd. McAdams was introduced to Gosling while filming. They were
a couple until the middle of 2007. McAdams is next in film with the comedy
Wedding Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004), and the holiday drama The
Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent filmmaking with
Married Life (2007) which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also
featured Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. After starring
in The Lucky Ones, a military drama State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife
(2009) McAdams was a co-star with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy
Ritchie's blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the determined
producer of a failed morning show on TV in Morning Glory (2010), the attractive
fiancee of Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) Then she
returned to romantic drama in the critically acclaimed film The Vow (2012)
opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams also stars alongside Terrence Malick in To the
Wonder (2012), and Noomi Rapace as Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma's thriller.
